Big B gets emotional birthday tribute from Polish musicians performing Madhushala

On his birthday, Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan received a deeply emotional and unique tribute from the city of Wroclaw, Poland, paying homage to his father, the legendary poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan.
In a gesture that left the actor overwhelmed, young musicians played the violin to the tune of Madhushala, one of Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s most famous works. The moving tribute was performed at prominent locations across the city and shared with Amitabh, who expressed his gratitude on social media.
Bachchan, who celebrated his birthday with this touching tribute, wrote, “The day of birth… and another day in its knowing that the celebration at that time was different to the time now.” He continued, reflecting on the honour bestowed upon him by Wroclaw, the City of Literature, which had previously declared him its Ambassador during his last visit.
The connection between Amitabh Bachchan and Wroclaw runs deep, as the city has shown great admiration for his father’s literary legacy. A statue of Harivansh Rai Bachchan has been placed in the city’s main square, and a street has been named after him – Harivansh Rai Bachchan Street Square.
Expressing his emotions about the special birthday tribute, Bachchan wrote, “As a gift from the City, they have sent me for this day a most loving, generous, and overwhelming gift… young musicians play the violin as a respect to Babuji’s Madhushala, the tune in which he sang it, at all the prominent locations of the City. It is a most humbling and overwhelming gesture, and words fail me in expressing my emotion at this point.”
Amitabh Bachchan’s post conveyed a deep sense of gratitude for the way his father’s legacy continues to inspire people worldwide.
As Wroclaw continues to celebrate Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s timeless contribution to literature, this musical tribute on Amitabh’s birthday underscores the city’s appreciation of Indian art and culture, while further strengthening the personal connection between the Bachchan family and the city of Wroclaw.
